Getting To Know Us
Our History
2021 saw the realization of Iliana Sweis's childhood dream with the establishment of the "Above and Beyond Free Food Pantry," dedicated to supporting local communities. Inspired by the lengthy queues observed at other food pantries during the COVID-19 pandemic, she took action. Initially operating out of a single storefront in West Garfield Park, its success led to rapid expansion, now occupying two units and effectively doubling its capacity. Currently, the pantry provides a range of services, including support groups such as Narcotics Anonymous and Women on the Way, assistance in obtaining essential documents, and connections to organizations addressing immediate client needs. Our ongoing efforts are geared towards enhancing our offerings to better cater to the needs of our neighbors.
